ASP.NET Role Manager Overview

In some cases you may want to protect sections of your website for a particular group of people. For example in a university website you may have two different roles, one just for lecturers and another role for other staff members. Even though both users will be authenticated users, their authentication would not be enough, after authentication the user wold still have to be in a particular role in order to access the content. ASP.NET Role can be enabled either by modifying the web.config file or by using the ASP.NET website Administrative tool which allows you to enable Roles, create new role, add users to roles etc. Whenever you manually create a user in this tool you get new options that will allow you to add the user to a specific role
